Count has launched an educational academy aimed at supporting its network of advisers to upskill at delivering risk insurance advice to clients. The ‘Risk Insurance Academy’ will run in two parts, featuring both introductory and advanced sessions, with the content to be delivered by subject matter experts from MetLife Australia.

The academy will run between November 2020 and April 2021, split across ten fortnightly sessions on different topics such as underwriting, claims, taxation, super, business insurance and succession planning.

Andrew Kennedy, Chief Advice Officer at Count, said that the academy would provide long-lasting benefits to Count’s adviser network as well as their clients.

“We continually look at new ways to enhance our licensee offer to our adviser network because we know that investing in their professional development will lead to exceptional client outcomes. Given the unusual and unexpected challenges that have arisen in 2020, there’s never been a more important time for Australians to be prepared and have the right level of insurance cover in place,” he said.

The decision to launch the academy came off the back of recent research conducted by Count with its national network of accounting-led advice businesses, aimed at identifying key focus areas for future educational programs.

“We’re thrilled to be running the academy with the support of MetLife who are considered one of the leading providers of life insurance. They have an experienced team who I’m sure will do a great job at delivering these sessions to our network,” Kennedy added.

MetLife partners with employers, super funds and financial advisers to provide quality life insurance solutions that meet clients’ needs.

Michael Mulholland, MetLife’s Chief Distribution Officer, echoed Mr Kennedy’s comments and said the academy would serve as a powerful educational resource for Count’s advisers.

The first academy session begins on Wednesday 4 November.
